What is AP?
The Advanced Placement program (AP) developed by College Board gives students the opportunity to take an advanced placement test in exchange to earn university or college credit. High schools offer advanced placement courses to help prepare you for the actual exam.
Can you take an AP® exam without taking an AP course?
Yes. The AP course is not required in order to take the AP exam. This is to accommodate students who are home schooled. Because of the rigor involved, all students are encouraged to follow the subjects outlined in the course curriculum in order to do well.
When are the AP exams given?
AP exams begin in May every year. There are deadlines for eligiblity form submissions and other dates to be familiar with. View the AP exam schedule for 2009 for all the important dates.
How much does each AP test cost?
Each exam's fee is $85.
Does my school accept AP?
Most high schools offer some AP courses. Talk to your academic advisor to see what courses are available. Most colleges also offer credit for AP exams, but may differ in their policy. Search for your college to find what their detailed advanced placement policy is.
